India is called a Union of states. Currently, India comprises 28 States and 8 Union Territories. In this article; we are giving 'Top Twelve List of the Largest States of India in Terms of Area (as per the census 2011)




1.   Rajasthan – 342,239 km2
Rajasthan is the India’s largest state by area, located on the western side of the country.The most important geographic features of Rajasthan include Aravalli Range,Thar Desert and ruins of the Indus Valley Civilisation.




2.  Madhya Pradesh – 308,245 km2

Madhya Pradesh nicknamed as the heart of India is the second largest state in the country by area. The state is very rich in mineral resources and has largest reserves of diamond and copper in India.

3.  Maharashtra – 307,713 km2

Maharashtra is the third largest state by area and India’s second most populous state. The state is most developed states in India and also wealthiest state by GDP.

4.  Uttar Pradesh – 240,928 km2

Uttar Pradesh is the most populous state in India and the second largest Indian state by economy. The state has an abundance of natural resources and diverse flora and fauna.


 
5.  Gujarat – 196,024 km2

Gujarat has an area of 196,024 km2 lies on the Kathiawar peninsula. The state is only home of great Asiatic Lions in the world, in and around Gir National Park.

6.  Karnataka – 191,791 km2

Karnataka state in south western region of India is the seventh largest Indian state by geographical area and has a rich diversity of flora and fauna.

7.  Andhra Pradesh – 162,968 km2

Andhra Pradesh located along the Bay of Bengal, composed of two regions of Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema. The state has second longest coastline in India after Gujarat.

9.  Chhattisgarh – 135,191 km2

10.  Tamil Nadu – 130,058 km2

Tamil Nadu is the eleventh largest state in India by geographical area and one of the top seven developed states in India. The state is home to many natural resources and multi religious pilgrimage sites.

11.  Telangana – 112,077 km2

Telangana is the youngest state in India and has an area of 112,077 square kilometres. The state formed on 2 June 2014, separate from Andhra Pradesh.

12.  Bihar – 94,163 km2

The state of Bihar is situated at the bank of holy river ganga and home to most of the longest river bridges in India. Bihar is one of most populous Indian state and home to largest cattle fair held at Sonpur.

Bihar's first Glass Skywalk bridge in Rajgir Ready..... India's first largest glass bridge has been completed. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on December 19 visited Rajgir to inspect the progress of the 'nature safari' work being carried out there. It is one of the dream projects of the Janata Dal Let's know some special things about it:- 1 .
